The Met, Upper East Side
I have visited this exhibit close to a dozen times since it opened. There was a set of painted bamboo plates that was the kind of subtle masterpiece one hopes for. The breadth of the show expresses vastly different approaches to making from the same material. This has easily been my favorite show of 2026. As for the impression it has left on me: it’s not thunder, it’s an earthquake.
A great talk from gallerists, curators, and artists who participated in the making of the exhibit and the continuing conversation around it.
