PinchPot is a personal studio journal for ceramic artists. We designed it to keep your data yours. This policy explains what PinchPot stores and how it is handled.
PinchPot does not have its own servers and does not collect your personal data. Everything you log stays on your device and in your own iCloud account. The developer cannot see your pieces, photos, notes, or any other content.
Your journal content. The pieces you log, including titles, clay bodies, glazes, techniques, kilns, firings, ratings, notes, photos, voice memos, and the sales you record.
Your profile. An optional name and photo, and, if you add them, when you started, where you're based, a line about yourself, the studios you've worked in, and your website and Instagram.
This content is saved locally on your device and synced across your own Apple devices using Apple's iCloud (CloudKit private database). It is stored under your Apple ID, governed by Apple's Privacy Policy. The developer of PinchPot has no access to it.
Camera. Used only to photograph pieces you add to the app.
Photo Library. Used only to attach photos you choose to your pieces, and, if you turn it on, to save photos you take in PinchPot to your camera roll.
Microphone. Used only to record voice memos you attach to a piece.
Speech Recognition. Used only to transcribe those voice memos, on your device, so you can search their words.
Media captured this way is stored with your journal content (on device and in your iCloud). PinchPot does not upload it anywhere else. Photos you add are stored without their location.
Some features ask your device to work something out. All of them run on the device; nothing is sent to us or to any other service, and none of them is required to use PinchPot.
Transcribing voice memos uses your device's speech recognition. The words are stored with the memo and are searched alongside your notes.
Asking your journal a question uses Apple Intelligence, where your device supports it and you have turned it on. The question is turned into a filter on the device. The model is given your own material and technique names so it spells them the way you do. It is never shown your pieces, photos or notes.
Describing a photo and suggesting a title (iOS 27, with Apple Intelligence) show one photo of your own to the on-device model, along with that piece's title, clay, glazes, stage and cone and the names in your glaze library, so it can also suggest which of your glazes a piece shows. Its answer is a suggestion; nothing is saved unless you accept it.
Finding a piece with your camera (iOS 27) compares what the camera sees with small numeric signatures of your pieces' cover photos, kept on your device.
Spotlight is given your pieces, firings and materials so you can find them from the Home Screen and ask Siri about them. That index belongs to your device.
PinchPot offers an optional “PinchPot Pro” subscription. Purchases and renewals are handled entirely by Apple through the App Store. PinchPot does not receive or store your payment information. Subscription management is handled in your Apple account settings.
No analytics or usage tracking.
No advertising and no ad identifiers.
No third-party data sharing or selling.
No developer-operated servers that receive your content.
You can delete any piece or your profile at any time within the app.
Deleting moves the item to Recently Deleted, where it stays for 30 days and can be restored, and is then removed for good. During those 30 days it is still in your own iCloud. Restoring items is part of PinchPot Pro; the 30-day window and the automatic removal at the end of it apply either way.
Deleting the app removes its local data; iCloud-synced data is managed through your Apple ID settings.
PinchPot is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect data from anyone.
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted at this URL with a revised date.
